La Riche Directions 'Rose Red' Hair Dye

I used to have bright coloured dip dye hair which I loved! I didn't care for it properly and decided to cut it off :( Now my hair is longer again, I'm considering a crazy coloured dip dye again and thought it would be a good opportunity to show you guys my previous experience with the Directions hair dyes.

Rose Red was the first Directions hair dye I purchased. It's a blue toned pink colour which is very deep and looks almost red. It is a semi-permanent dye and has best results on bleached hair. It comes in a handy little tub which really goes a long way! It lasts round 2 to 3 weeks before fading to a pastel(ish) orange colour.

The first time I used it I had dyed my whole head and, to be honest, it was a horrific experience. It went EVERYWHERE, dyed everything in my bathroom and transferred onto everything. If I touched my hair, it would be on my hands then on anything else I touched.

I think the problem was that I just slapped a load of the dye onto my hair and didn't realise that a little goes a long way! I vowed never to use it again...

However I still had half a tub left and earlier this year I fancied dying my dip-dye. This time round it was fantastic; I used a lot less of the dye and it wasn't so bad for transferring. It did dye my bath initially however it was pretty easy to clean up and no where near as bad as the first time I used it.

I adore the shade of Rose Red and if this wasn't so bad for transferring onto my bed sheets I'd definitely repurchase however it is just too messy for me so I don't think I'll be buying this again any time soon.

  1. Of all the Directions hair dyes I've used I've never used this shade.
I have Vermilion Red waiting for me to dye my hair with, just waiting for the last of the blue to wash out - thankfully that's all gone now. :D

It does get everywhere, my bathroom floor has a dye splattered effect now because I've made a mess when dying my hair. Oops. Haha. Red is the worst to stain - everywhere! It does look good though.

    Juyey xx
