Black Friday

Today is Black Friday. My heart sank a little when I noticed that I had a shift at work on Black Friday. For shoppers, today is heavenly (I've even managed to grab a few early Black Friday deals). For retail staff, it is terrifying. And for little old me, well I'm quite upset about the whole situation. I feel like this whole Black Friday thing has come from nowhere, I can't remember it happening before, but all of a sudden I have a new day that fills me with sadness. Why on earth would I be sad about such a great event?!

Life After Uni

This is a bit more of a personal post about how I'm finding life after uni. Hopefully a few of you can relate to this! I think the best way to describe life after university is 'unexpected'. Nothing has gone how I anticipated it would do and it's left me, and I'm sure a few others, stuck in a bit of a rut. The three photos of myself that I've used in that college, a picture of me at Colours Ball, one of me at work and one at graduation (why do I have such a beautiful face LOL), show how much has happened to me since finishing uni!

Sinful Colors 'Easy Going (300)'

Sinful Colors is a rather purse friednly nail polish brand that I have fallen in love with and, although I have posted about this nail polish ages ago, I though it was too good not share. After the perfect pastel pink nail polish? Look no further, I have your answer here...

Being Alone

I love being alone. I'm not sure what it is about the comfort of being by myself in my own little world that makes me tick but you'll often find me locked upstairs in my room ignoring the world.

Maybe it's this desire to 'ignore the world' that makes me enjoy my own company. I'm certainly not upset (although I do prefer to be left alone when I am) and its not that I have no one to socialise with - I just genuinely enjoy my own company from time to time.

LUSH Gorilla Perfume Stayin' Alive

I remember when I was planning my trip to the Gorilla Perfume shop I told myself repeatedly "Do Not fall in love with the Stayin' Alive perfume". It happened to be the most expensive perfume of the collection and I couldn't let myself get addicted to another expensive fragrance.

Yet, as you can clearly see, I did end up coming home with it. This fragrance is truly irresistible and I could not have left without it!

I Believe...

It's nice to remind yourself how lucky you are sometimes and reflect on things that make you happy and make you the person you are today. Lush (where I work) have a 'We Believe' statement that are the kind of mantra for all the shops. It's essentially the core values that the founders of Lush aim to instill within the company so, inspired by the Lush version, here is a list of the 'Things I Believe In' to keep me happy:

The Library of Fragrance 'Thunderstorm'

I love the smell of the air straight after a thunderstorm. It smells so fresh after the rain has just poured down and the drama of the storm is over. When I spotted The Library of Fragrance's 'Thunderstorm' fragrance I knew I had to give it a try but did it really bottle that scent that I love?

My University Experience

On 19th November, I graduated with a degree in English and Literary Studies from the University of Worcester. A few months ago, I didn't even want to go to my ceremony because I was so disappointed with my grades but a quick change of heart made me decide to go ahead and celebrate my achievements.

e.l.f. Pointed Foundation Brush

Have you ever found something that you are convinced was designed for you? I accidentally discovered the most PERFECT foundation brush for myself whilst I was shopping in Cardiff last month. What was this miracle brush I hear you ask? It's the e.l.f. Pointed Foundation Brush and I'm about to explain why it is so fantastic.

Sometimes It's OK to Give Up

Throughout life we are taught "Never give up!" and, whilst this has been used as a way to encourage us, I find it quite damaging. Giving up is regarded as a failure and we try our hardest to not give up on anything and believe that 'anything is possible'.

But this isn't always the case. Sometimes it is perfectly acceptable, and in my opinion more responsible, to give up and know when to call it a day.

New York Color 'Strip Me Off' Base Coat

Glitter nail polish is a right pain to get off and it's a lot harder to remove than regular colours. I get so irritated that, despite owning lots of glitters, I tend to shy away from them because I can't be bothered with the task of getting it off.

When I noticed a few brands were releasing an 'easy peel' glitter nail polish base and jumped for joy, popping the first one I saw into my basket. It wasn't until I got the New York Color 'Strip Me Off' Base Coat I had a sneaking suspicion I might have been slightly ripped off...

Reasons I can't blog tonight...

If you follow my blog, you are probably aware that I blog daily (Except for Sundays - bloggers need a day off too). It's currently 11pm and I'm sat at my laptop in despair because I don't have the material for a scheduled post. It's got me thinking of all the silly excuses us bloggers use to put off blogging. Blogging should be our hobby, not an extra stress, but I still managed to compile a list of excuses I find myself using to not write up that blog post ;)

MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighter

I've always been a little dubious of Make Up Academy (aka MUA) - at such an affordable price, it seems too good to be true. I noticed that they had released some new highlighters, the Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighters, and after needing a new one for so long I thought I'd take the risk and buy it! I bought the shade 'Pink Shimmer'. They look beautiful in the packaging but do they work as good as they look?

Five Reasons You Should Horse Ride

I'm sure I've mentioned this a couple of times but I am a horse rider. I've been riding since the age of 11 (that's 11 years now!) and when I was younger I had my own horses that I loaned from a friend's stables. I always recommend that people try horse riding at least once in their lives; there are so many benefits that you wouldn't imagine getting from a horse ride! Here are my top reasons to why you should try horse riding.

LUSH Grease Lightening Spot Treatment

Grease Lightening is a product that many Lush fans swear by. It's really popular in the shop and loads of customers love it but I remember using it many year ago and hating it because of it's unusual gel consistency. My face is now very prone to spots and blemishes so when one of my Lush colleagues suggested I give it another chance I reluctantly tried it again. And what did I think of it after giving it a second chance?

Things I Expected at 23

Isn't it funny how life turns out? When I was little, I'm talking like 6 or 7 years old here, I had this wild fantasy of what life would be like when I was 23. 23 seemed such an 'adult' age and I thought it was reasonable to expect to have accomplished everything in life by this point.

Now I'm 22, I've realised that 6 year old Becky had very unrealistic expectations of what it was like to be a grown up. Here are three top things that infant Becky thought she'd have at 23...

LUSH Enzymion Facial Moisturiser

My skin drives me insane - it's quite oily which makes finding a moisturiser suitable for my face quite a difficult task. Despite having used a lot of Lush skin care, until last month, I'd never tried Enzymion face cream. I didn't expect it to make any difference to my skin but, unlike other things I've tried, this has been a total game changer for my problem skin!

The Doctor Who Experience

I don't post that much geekery on here (despite the blog name) but it probably doesn't surprise you that, as a self confessed geek, I love Doctor Who. I am OBSESSED with time travel. Actual obsession - If a book/film title mentions 'time' I am guaranteed to buy it. Doctor Who is a British family TV classic that has lasted over the years so, while me and Nick were in Cardiff, we decided to stop by at the museum.

The Reverse Bucket List

A bucket list: A list of goals you wish to achieve before you die. Things to check off as you make your way through life.

The younger generation strive to achieve more and be better than others which can be quite stressful. I stumbled across a post on Pinterest that delved into the idea of a 'reverse bucket list': a list of things you are very proud to have accomplished already in life (which unfortunately I have lost the link too but will credit the lovely person who mentioned it when I find them!). I always feel that I've not achieved enough and I thought it would be a good idea to make a reverse bucket list to show myself all of the things I should be proud of!

LUSH 'Pearl' Massage Bar

I was very excited to discover Lush were releasing brand new massage bars and have been eagerly awaiting their release. The massage bars are oils that can be used for massage inside a solid bar meaning there is no packaging and a lot less mess! The first new bar that I needed to get my hands on was Pearl - a rose jam, yes ROSE JAM, scented massage bar.
