The Doctor Who Experience

I don't post that much geekery on here (despite the blog name) but it probably doesn't surprise you that, as a self confessed geek, I love Doctor Who. I am OBSESSED with time travel. Actual obsession - If a book/film title mentions 'time' I am guaranteed to buy it. Doctor Who is a British family TV classic that has lasted over the years so, while me and Nick were in Cardiff, we decided to stop by at the museum.

The Doctor Who experience is a museum meets small maze that you get to go in. The actor who lead our group was great, you did feel like you were travelling through time and space. You have to help the Doctor fly his TARDIS and collect objects to help him defeat some famous Doctor Who villains. I think kids would enjoy this experience more than the adults as it's quite short! I wanted to be more scared however there was a little girl sobbing with fear behind me so maybe they have the correct fear factor and I'm just being picky haha! It honestly wasn't that scary, there were loads of kids who weren't scared, but it is quite a convincing experience so bear that in mind if taking very small children!

After the little maze/ride thingy, you get to look around a museum of Doctor Who memorabilia. It is amazing to see ho much the program as evolved and how various recurring characters have changed over time. You are allowed to get quite close to the displays which is loads of fun and provides many opportunities for a comedy picture (Nick and I got A LOT of comedy pictures). I was really impressed with how up-to-date the museum was; they had pieces from episodes that had only just been shown on TV! Again, the museum is quite small but has a lot packed into it and you're allowed to stay as long as you want.

Overall it is a great day out for fans of the show but I imagine it would be a little pricey if taking a whole family. I very much enjoyed my day and, as you can see, took every opportunity to take many photos with various Doctor Who characters.  And I may or may not have got a  bit too excited and bought a sonic screwdriver.... ;)
