LUSH Grease Lightening Spot Treatment

Grease Lightening is a product that many Lush fans swear by. It's really popular in the shop and loads of customers love it but I remember using it many year ago and hating it because of it's unusual gel consistency. My face is now very prone to spots and blemishes so when one of my Lush colleagues suggested I give it another chance I reluctantly tried it again. And what did I think of it after giving it a second chance?

I was a  little gutted when I tried it in the shop - the product still had the same gel formula that felt weird on my skin. But then, as if the Gods of Lush were meant to sway my mind, my co-worker asked me if I'd ever mixed it with my moisturiser and it was then I discovered my new favourite spot fighting weapon.

Grease Lightening is supposed to help prevent the spot getting all red and gross. It is full of antibacterial ingredients, such as tea tree and thyme, alongside soothing aloe vera and lavender, and witch hazel acting as an anti-inflammatory. Sounds like the perfect blemish fighting concoction right?

So, what made my change my mind so drastically? As I said, I hate the feel of Grease Lightening on its own on my face however once I mixed it with my moisturiser it applied like a dream. It has made a HUGE difference to my skin; a noticeable reduction in angry red spots and when I do get them they are much smaller! I no longer get any of the weird dried gel on my face as it blends beautifully with my moisturiser. I will even use it on its own if I feel my face is about to break out. Talk about a change of heart! The key to using this spot treatment is 'a little goes a long way'. One to two pumps is enough for your whole face; when I got this product years ago I was using one pump per blemish and I think this is why it felt strange on my skin.

I now use this product twice a day, every day- it just goes to show that sometimes things really do deserve a second chance!

  1. I love Grease Lightning and have done for a few years but I would agree, the texture is really bizarre!

Mixing it with your moisturiser is genius! I'm going to give it a try.

  3. That's a brilliant idea, I hate the fact that I can never apply most spot treatments to my face under my makeup because of the texture and how it dries. Mixing it with moisturiser would make it perfect tho! Definitely a great tip! Thanks!
