How to Name Your Blog

Naming my blog was a huge deal to me. I honestly put the same though into naming my blog as what I would to naming a child because it is my personal space on the Internet that I want to define as being very 'me'. So when it came to closing my old blog, which had the rather un-creative name 'Becky's Beauty Blog', I decided my new blog would have to have a name that screamed me. And so started the naming process...

As a blogger, I don't think I can fit into the stereotype beauty blogger. When I started blogging, I just wanted to do beauty so made my blog name encompass that but I didn't enjoy just beauty blogging. As a person, I'm really geeky. I love Star Wars, I go to see every single Marvel film that is released and I'll sit and chat about computers or games all day long.

But I also really love a new lipstick, painting my nails and changing my hair style. I love dressing up and doing my make up. I'm both geeky and glam. And that's when I started playing with some words to come up with the name Geek Gets Glam. 'Geek Gets Glam' suits my blog perfectly; I'm a self-confessed geek with a passion for lipstick who blogs on both topics. The name is also good because, unlike 'Becky's Beauty Blog', I'm not limited to blogging about one topic.

The best things to remember when naming your own blog is make sure it is 100% personal to you. Make it quite short and snappy for a more memorable name. Names that use alliteration, every word starting with the same letter, sound better too. Inject some personality to it; if you love something about yourself (such as being geeky) then make a name of it! Just make sure it's a name you adore and will be happy to drop into a conversation when talking about your blog. Make it personal and unique to yourself and your readers will love it!

    1. Yeah, that's exactly what I found with my old blog. I think non-specific names work best, even if tthe blog ends up being about one specific subject xxx
