BEAUTY // Cleaning Make Up Brushes (The Easy way!)

Everyone's most hated job: Cleaning your make-up brushes. Am I right? When I found out the BEST brush shampoo I knew I had to share it all with you - it literally takes seconds to wash each brush as the shampoo is so strong it melts out all the excess dirt, oil and make up left in the bristles. Plus, it's all completely natural! What is this miracle brush cleaner? And how do you use it?

Things you will need:
  • Make up brushes that need a clean (they should be deep cleansed about once a month)
  • A towel
  • A bottle
  • A shallow dish
  • Brush shampoo (My miracle product is... I Love Juicy Shampoo from Lush!... ta-da!)

If you go ahead and grab a small bottle of I Love Juicy to wash your brushes then you only need to use the tiniest amount. I had a large bottle of it so I emptied some into a small black pot so I could use it just for make up brush washing.

Pour a tiny amount of shampoo into your shallow dish (or pot lid like me). Add a few drops of water. This is a little platform to make sure the brush evenly picks up shampoo and water so it makes sure it has the deepest clean.

Swirl the brush in the dish until it the shampoo/water starts changing colour. It is gross how much make up is left in your brush!

Now rinse the brush and re-dip it into the brush shampoo. Wash like you'd wash your own hair - just make sure you're gentle as brushes can be a little delicate. After the second wash, rinse the brush with cold water.

Finally the mystery of the bottle is solved. To be honest I saw this idea on Buzzfeed but thought it was too good not to share. If you lay the bottle flat and wrap a towel over it, it creates a little ramp to leave your brushes on while they dry. This way ensures no water gets on the metal and handle which, if wet, can fall off leaving you with a broken brush. Leave the brushes to air dry naturally.

And there we have it! The best way to clean your brushes in my opinion. Have you got any more brush cleaning tips? Leave them in the comments below!
