Have you ever been somewhere that you couldn't describe because the scenery was so spectacular? The area we stayed in Wales this bank holiday weekend was just that. We stayed in a lovely little house in Dolgellau that was nestled in the woods outside some amazing mountain ranges and I can honestly say I had the best break I've had in ages.
There isn't that much to do in Dolgellau except drive out and enjoy the scenery. I did notice a few cute little shops there but they were all closed for the bank holiday. The cottage we stayed in was one that Nick's parents go to often and I can see why they keep going back - the view across the mountains was stunning!
My favourite part of the holiday was the long walk we took called the Precipice walk. As long as you aren't afraid of heights and a little bit of climbing, you will be treated with some amazing views from the top of the mountains. Everything looks so tiny below you and you can see for miles! We also headed to Fairbourne which is a little town near the sea. Nick had a great time playing with rocks and making little sculptures (I obviously joined in too, we are both children at heart haha).
Unfortunately we didn't get to stay for long as myself and Nick had work to go back to. I almost cried when we waved 'Bye' to Nick's parents because I was so jealous of them getting to spend the whole week there! It was such a relaxing and peaceful holiday -the perfect way to spend the long weekend!
