LIFESTYLE // Grand Designs Live 2015

If you follow me on Pinterest, you'll know I'm an absolute sucker for homes and interiors. When I was offered tickets to Grand Designs Live, a huge show and exhibits based on the Channel 4 design show, courtesy of the lovely people at Hillarys I jumped at the chance to check out some interior design delights for myself!

I took my Mom along as well because my parents recently bought an old house that needs completely renovating and I knew she'd quite like to check it all out too. So, what did we find there? (Well... I found a TONNE of Pinterest-able things so apologies for the picture heavy post)

As I mentioned, Hillarys were kind enough to send me the tickets so we headed over to their stand first to say hello! My parent's new house needs specialist blinds because the windows are all going to be kept to in their original state, meaning they are all really awkward sizes so my Mom was impressed at how much you could customise the blinds and shutters from Hillarys to fit whatever requirement. They also had loads of stylish fabrics and materials, they did a whole write up on their latest trends previewed at the show which you can read about here - they have got their spring trends down to a tee!

We stayed in the interior area for a while and I was very impressed with the little rooms that had been set up to show off different aspects of interior design. I was particularly obsessed with the kitchen and the Smeg fridge - I love the vintage style things! I noticed a lot of grey with pops of colour and I think it looked amazing (my Mom wasn't such a massive fan though!). Another area that caught my eye was the Eco friendly zones. I forgot to get a picture of it but there was this really cool Algae tree that was part of research for new ways to make energy (I think... science isn't a strong point for me) that was fascinating to read about.

We were pretty hungry by this point so we headed over to the 'Food' section which I have to say, apart from the Design Arcade, was my favourite part! Now despite it's name, it wasn't just food but a whole load of utensils, cleaning equipment and lots and lots of wine. I was amazed at all the gadgets and I took so many leaflets of things I want to buy once I'm back in my own place. This section was a pleasant surprise as I expected the show to be more design and build orientated, but it had literally every aspect of home renovation you could think of.

The whole show was a Pinterest lover's dream and I loved it all! A huge thank you to Hillarys for sending me to the show!
