It's been years since I last visited West Midlands Safari park so, as the weather was so lovely this weekend, Nick and I decided to head down there for a little day out. I didn't realise how much freedom the animals have... it's quite scary as they come in your windows and your trapped in the car haha!
We started the day in the zoo area of the park. This is much smaller than I remember and the theme park was more like a couple of rides but it's great for kids and there is quite a lot to do there. They had sea lion shows and lots of friendly staff to chat about the animals that were there. I loved the penguins - they looked really happy! They have recently finished a huge Dinosaur zone too which was loads of fun. The dinosaurs are realistic as they are built to size and it's quite overwhelming standing under them (great for dinosaur selfies though!).
After a stroll around, and a rather amazing ice cream and pancake snack, we decided to head over to the car and go on the safari drive. The safari park did not disappoint, It is massive and has loads of animals. You can buy boxes of food to feed some animals. The animals come really close and I thought this was great until they actually started poking their heads through the window and I got scared! I love animals so I didn't mind too much - I think some of the animals need to learn about personal space though haha! Nick quite enjoyed this and made friends with lots of the animals.
It was such a great day out and the park is loads of fun. It's reasonably priced too and is a perfect outing for those animal lovers out there. I would go back again and I highly recommend for families and a little outing with friends!
