LIFE // Teatox from Slimming Solutions*

It seems that the new craze in healthy living is Tea detoxes aka Teatox! I've always been curious to see how these work and if they actually produce any results. In my head I was certain that there was no possible way that a cup of tea could do anything at all to my weight or well being so when I was asked if I would try out the Teatox from Slimming Solutions, I decided to give it a go!

BEAUTY // Synaesthesia at LUSH Spa Liverpool

Since working for Lush, I've always been desperate to book into one of the Lush Spa stores and get one of the unique treatments they have to offer. The Synaesthesia treatment, an 80 minute full body massage, had always been the most intriguing to me because of how people described it - pick two words that jump out at you, and the rest you'll have to find out for yourself.

Curiosity got the better of me and my lovely manager booked me in for a treatment at the Liverpool store. I'd heard that Lush spas were truly magical and the treatments were out of this world, so I was very excited to find out more.

BEAUTY // Steam Cream: Worth the hype?

A while back, I spotted a tin of Steam Cream that had cute little cats all over the lid and I knew I had to buy it. A bit superficial and shallow, I know, but the tin was lovely and I'd wanted to try Steam Cream for a while.

I've read so many amazing reviews of the stuff and heard it's one of the best face creams on the market but the skincare addict in me said that there was no way a cream could be that special. In fact, I was convinced that people, like me, were just suckered in by a cute tin and were actually receiving an average pot of face cream.

BOOKS // 'Afterparty' by Daryl Gregory*

One of the things I love about the Blloon app (if you haven't read my review on Blloon yet click here to see what you're missing) is that I find myself choosing to read books on it that I possibly wouldn't pick up in a book shop. This is exactly what happened with my current read, Afterparty by Daryl Gregory.

Afterparty depicts a world in which anyone can print their own designer drugs as and when they chose. The story begins with a young girl who finds God through a street drug but ends up committing suicide after she is arrested and forced to stop taking the drug. It turns out that one of the creators of this highly addictive drug is in the same prison the girl took her life in, and decides to take matters into her own hands to try and stop any more deaths from the distribution of this destructive drug.

FILM // Jurassic World

When I was a child, I remember being obsessed with the Jurassic Park films, so was ecstatic to learn last year that there would be a brand new film out in the franchise called Jurassic World. I loved the idea of there being a whole theme park just made of dinosaurs and I remember re-creating it on my Zoo Tycoon game (hands up who remembers Zoo Tycoon?).

After many setbacks of not being able to see the film when it was first released, I finally managed to catch a viewing of Jurassic World this weekend and I have kind of mixed feelings on the whole film!

BEAUTY // Dr PAWPAW Original Balm*

Dr PAWPAW is a multipurpose balm that uses fermented Pawpaw to sooth and nourish. I've heard good things about similar types of balms so was curious to see whether this British-made balm would be as good as it's reputation states!

I'm super picky when it comes to lip balms. They have to be smooth, glide on easily and sink in quite fast. I was a bit worried about the Dr PAWPAW balm because it was so thick and I struggled to get it out of the sample tube.It reminded me a bit of Vaseline which is a product I hate, so I did feel a little apprehensive about this balm.

TV // My Top 5 Disney Films

I think it's time we talked Disney. I love Disney. I'm pretty sure that most people love Disney and I know that when people say they hate it they are huge liars. No one hates Disney.

The whole idea of Disney is that it makes us feel great and nostalgic; so many memories are attached to the films that we love about our childhood so they do stand the test of time. I love reading about people's favourite Disney films so I thought I'd make my own compilation of my favourite ever Disney films and reasons why I love them. In reverse order, at number Five we have...

BEAUTY // Why you need SPF Daily

Should I really be using SPF every day? It's a question lots of us ask ourselves as we see it frequently slapped on beauty products as a benefit but we don't really know why on Earth we'd need it when we get about 5 days of sunshine a year (talking about us Brits here).

Well, I have the answer for you all: If you go outside for longer than 15 minutes a day then YES you should be wearing an SPF. No ifs or buts. Your skin will thank you and I'll explain why, and how you can easily get it into your every day routine.

LIFE // Brain Dump

Have you ever just needed to have a good old writing session to get some things of your chest? That's what this will be: for want of a better phrase, a 'brain dump'. Or I guess it could be seen as a little catch up for those interested in the girl behind the blog.

I've spoken about this numerous times on my blog (and if you follow me on Twitter you're probably sick of seeing my mini rants) but my brain is a bit confused with life at the moment. I'm lucky in that I've got a job and I'm living at my parents house for virtually nothing but now, after a year from moving away from university, I just feel a bit lost with life. I guess everyone feels this way at some point.

BOOKS // 'The Lovely Bones' by Alice Sebold

I don't think I've ever read a book as moving and beautiful as Alice Sebold's The Lovely Bones. It's not my usual choice of book to read but I am so happy I gave it a go as I was pleasantly surprised by what I found inside (Spoiler: You will be left heartbroken chapter after chapter).

The story is of a young girl named Susie Salmon, who is raped and murdered by a neighbour. The story follows her time in Heaven and it is mainly about how her family survive life after Susie.

BEAUTY // LUSH The Experimenter Bath Bomb (Oxford Street Exclusive)

Most LUSH fanatics have probably heard of The Experimenter - a crazy coloured, glitter filled bath bomb that has taken over Instagram feeds since it's release in the LUSH Oxford Street Store.

It was the bath bomb I was most excited to try from my Lush Oxford Street haul and I could not wait to throw it into my bath and see what it would do!

TECH // HTC Desire Eye Review

I have never been one to spend a lot of money on mobile phones. When all my friends have had the latest iphone, I've usually had a reasonably priced smart phone that didn't do very much. And, to top it all off, they usually broke after a year of using them so I was left with a pretty useless phone.

This year I took the plunge and spent a big wedge of cash on a new mobile phone - the HTC Desire Eye. I've had HTC phones before but not for a while and this phone is worth as much as the iPhone so I had high expectations!

Happy 2nd Birthday Geek Gets Glam!

I cannot believe that two years ago on the 1st of June, I wrote my very first blog post on Geek Gets Glam. The blog, and myself, has changed quite a lot over the past two years and I thought I'd share with you some of my old blog designs (Some of them are awful and yes I did make some on paint)!

I'll also be announcing some rather exciting birthday news regarding some amazing giveaways at the end of the post so keep your eyes peeled ;)
