Ideal Homes Show 2016

On 2nd April, I headed down to Olympia in London to have a wander round the Ideal Homes Show, courtesy of the wonderful people at British Gas who were kind enough to send me the tickets to go. To be honest, I'd never heard of the Ideal Homes Show but I am OBSESSED with interior design so I was excited to have a look round the show.

The Ideal Homes Show is an exhibition showcasing the best of home interior design, innovative technology, and cutting edge architectural elements, like eco homes for example. The show also included, much to my delight, a huge food section and a beauty and fashion area. Ideal Homes Show is pretty much an all round crowd pleaser! Not only is there something for everyone, the show itself runs for about three weeks so there is plenty of opportunity to head down and have a proper mooch around everything this show has to offer. Here are some of the highlights from the show.

I started my day having a look around the top level of the exhibition, which was mainly shopping and food. It was so much fun meeting some quirky designers and creatives that have made their own interior products; I was spoilt for choice and the options were endless at some stands! I noticed there were lots of shabby chic style items and stalls which I know is popular with a lot of people. I found an amazing company called Ayers and Graces who specialise in ornate and vintage frames & mirrors - I loved their vintage, keepsake glass frames and will definitely be buying some on the near future. I did manage to grab a few bargains and I met the loveliest man who gave me a bargain of 7 ceramic knives for a tenner as it was one of the last sets!

After a morning of shopping and having a look around the food section (which, by the way, had the best fudge I've ever seen in my life) I headed down stairs to the home show. As I said, I am obsessed with home interior design. I am one of those people who spends hours on Pinterest pinning decor ideas so you can imagine how thrilled I was to be at this show!

I particularly loved the Ideal Roomsets by Good Homes Magazine. I am moving to a new place soon so it was great to pull inspiration from different parts of different rooms set up at the show. Of course, I had a stroll round Smeg to lust over their kitchen products - I'd do anything for one of their fridges they are beautiful!

And, of course, how could I not mention the amazing stand that British Gas had at the show? I was really intrigued by the virtual reality head set that they had; there was a crowd of people watching a girl use it and it was fascinating watching how the technology works! How could I leave out the extra cute Wilbur the penguin? Wilbur is mascot for British Gas and is doing a fab job of reminding us there really is #NoPlaceLikeHome :-)

I highly rate The Ideal Homes Show. It genuinely has something for everyone, whether you plan on building a new house or just fancy redecorating, you will find something useful and interesting for you. I cannot wait to go again - I'll be booking my tickets in advance! See you there!
