How To Survive Blogmas // Blogmas 2016

We're almost half way through the blogging challenge that is Blogmas and, to be honest, I'm struggling. The idea of Blogmas, or Vlogmas if you prefer to make videos, is to blog/vlog every single day in the lead up to Christmas and I have challenged myself to do it for the last three years.

The main problem with Blogmas is if youre not careful it is so easy to fall behind. I have missed a day this year because life happened and I just didn't get chance to plan everything. I felt like giving up but I'm pushing myself to finish the last couple of weeks!

Being a bit of a Blogmas pro, I thought I'd put together a little list of things to do to prepare you for Blogmas and make sure it is as stress-free as possible!

1 - Plan your posts a month in advance

I start thinking about Blogmas posts around the end of October and make a list of things I want to write about. This makes it easier as you have less to think about when it gets closer to December; you can just refer to your list and get writing! There are loads of posts on other blogs for ideas for Blogmas posts and the posts don't have to be exclusively about Christmas.

2 - Write at least 5 posts in advance

I highly recommend getting your first week of Blogmas written, photographed and scheduled before the last day of November. Having the first week of Blogmas prepared for you takes a huge amount of pressure of and, as  your a week in advance, it gives you a bit more free time to relax instead of worrying over a blog post.

3 - Post Blogmas posts at the same time every day

People are creatures of habit and if they know your blog post will go live at 12pm daily, they will know to check your blog for the post. It is great motivation to know people are actively reading your Blogmas posts so keeping a consistent schedule helps keep people interested and excited for your next post.

4 - It's not the end of the world if you do miss a day

As I said, life happens. You can't predict everything and, even though it feels crap when you miss a day, the world keeps spinning if one Blogmas post is missing. If the post has been written and just not finished or scheduled in time, you can always move it back a day or post two posts in one day, but it's best  not to stress too much about it.

5 - Share Blogmas posts with your friends and family

Everyone loves getting in the Christmas spirit and this year I decided to share my blog posts with friends and family via Facebook. Everyone has enjoyed reading them and it's nice to know the people around me are enjoying my blog posts as much as I'm enjoying writing them!

Most importantly, Blogmas is supposed to be fun! Make sure you write about things you love, whether it's a full blown 24 days of Christmas-related posts or a chance to blog daily about topics that matter to you. Let me know how your Blogmas is going in the comments below!

  1. I took part in Blogmas last year and I really enjoyed it, I really wish I'd had these tips though because I can remember being super stressed at the halfway point!
