Freedom Make Up 'Far Away Galaxy' Lipstick Collection Review

It's not every day you see a high street/drug store cosmetic company launch a collection of lipsticks inspired by Star Wars, but last year Freedom Make Up did exactly that with their 'Far Away Galaxy' lipstick collection.

The collection consists of five lipsticks of unusual and "out of this world" shades. Curiosity got the better of me when I purchased these. I'm usually a sucker for a bold red matte lip but something about having make up from one of my favourite films just made me have to buy them. I'm still not entirely sure what to make of this collection to be honest.

The Far Away Galaxy collection consists of five lipsticks. 'Far Away' is a bright metallic blue and it's is the most eyecatching of the collection. 'Sky-Walker' is a metallic silver shade and one of my favourites from the collection. 'Space Luxe' is a surprisingly wearable yellow-gold colour. 'Storm Trooper' is a bright, almost matte white shade. 'The Sith' is a really unusual blue/black shade with lots of tiny glitters inside. The swatches above don't do the glitters or metallic sheen any justice - they are glittery in real life! You can pick up the whole set for £5 which is great for 5 lipsticks!

First of all, lets start with the formula. It's a little sheer with one application. The swatches above are multiple applications and they look fine but definitely not as bold as I anticipated. I guess for the price you can't really complain as they do apply the colours they are in the tube, but I just wanted them to be a little bolder to match the bold feel of the collection. The shades with more glitter apply much better than the ones without. Storm Trooper does not apply well at all, which is a shame as I thought I'd get the most out of this one for doing lip art.

Once you've got them on, they actually look quite nice and last for a couple of hours which I think is impressive for a budget lipstick. I wish I was brave enough to wear these shades outside the house haha! I find the best way to wear these is apply them over the top of other colours - the Sith looks amazing on top of a black matte lipstick as the colourful glitter pops! Space Luxe is the most flattering on but, typically, it really doesn't suit me as I'm such a pale person!

Overall, I wasn't particularity wowed by this collection, but I definitely have a soft spot for them. They aren't bad little lipsticks, especially for the bargain price, and if you're wanting to try some unique, true metallic shades for the first time then this could be ideal for your make up stash.
